PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY:
My approach in therapy is to connect with the client(s), learning what they need or want and use approaches to help the client solve issues or change the behavior. Typically, I would examine with the individual and couple the messages and issues from their family of origin and current family. In setting goals for therapy. the client would be encouraged to help decide the direction of treatment that it most suitable. Homework assignments between sessions may include reading, journaling, or writing about feelings or behaviors, and are designed to make the therapy experience meaningful and to help achieve goals faster. The client may be referred to another professional such as a psychiatrist for a medication evaluation or to a particular kind of support group if we mutually believe that would be helpful. Suggestions, questions and input are always welcomed.
