PURPOSE OF THE PCS PROGRAM
The purpose of the PCS Program of CENTUS is to provide educational, consultative and evaluative experiences for the congregational clergy, chaplains and other professional and lay pastoral caregivers in the theory and practice of brief, supportive pastoral care and counseling.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PCS PROGRAM ARE TO:
• Facilitate the acquisition of increasing competency in the theory and practice pastoral care.
• Enhance the integration of theological reflection and commitment to a life of faith with the practices of caring for souls embodied within ministry.
• Encourage personal growth in faith and spiritual leadership through the ministry of pastoral care.
• Attention will be given during each of these presentations to the formulation of an annotated bibliography and the art of referral.
Pastoral Supervision will be conducted in a group atmosphere of acceptance, support, and respect as participants share verbatims and pastoral care and counseling experiences in order to enhance personal and professional integration and to develop skills as a pastoral care specialist.
